Chapter Guide — Complete Walkthrough of All 6 Chapters
Detailed Sephiria chapter walkthrough covering all 6 chapters — enemy types, the difficulty curve, Chapter 3's three-phase boss, the Chapter 6 finale, recommended builds, and how to plan a full run.
Chapter Guide — Complete Walkthrough of All 6 Chapters
The Tower of Sephiria consists of 6 distinct chapters, each with its own enemy types, hazards, and boss. Chapters are divided into rooms that are procedurally arranged — the room types and loot change each run, but the chapter theme remains consistent. There are 60+ enemy types across the climb.
Chapter Overview
| Chapter | Verified Name | Difficulty | What to Expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| :--: | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | The Rooted Depths | Easy | Tutorial floors — learn blocking and dodging |
| 2 | The Whispering Halls | Normal | A step up in pattern variety |
| 3 | The Mirrored Library | Newbie wall | A 3-phase boss and bullet-heavy adds — the most common wall |
| 4 | (name unconfirmed) | Hardest in the climb | Overlapping patterns and long phases |
| 5 | (name unconfirmed) | Very hard | The pre-endgame gate |
| 6 | (name unconfirmed) | Endgame | Mini-boss, the Pillar Summoner fight, and the final boss — ending and credits |
Chapter names are only listed where confirmed in public sources. Chapters 4-6 are real and challenging, but their names have not been confirmed — we prefer honesty over invented names.
Chapter 1: The Rooted Depths
The first biome — a tutorial for everything the game expects of you.
- Learn the block key here. Blocking is a core answer to enemy attacks, not a last resort. Get comfortable holding block during telegraphed attacks.
- Learn dodge timing. The Chapter 1 boss telegraphs its attacks clearly; use this fight to internalize the tell → dodge → punish loop.
- Break every cracked wall — secret rooms contain artifacts and upgrades. See the Secret Rooms Guide.
- Any weapon works. Sword & Shield is the most forgiving; every weapon can clear this chapter.
Chapter 2: The Whispering Halls
The second biome introduces more varied enemy patterns and the first real room pressure.
- Watch for new enemy types — ranged attackers appear, so close in on them before they wear you down.
- Start building your element theme — by the end of this chapter you should be committing to one damage type.
- Expect the standard mid-chapter boss — a step up in pattern variety from Chapter 1.
Chapter 3: The Mirrored Library
Chapter 3 is where Sephiria stops being gentle. Players consistently report hitting a wall here — the enemy density jumps, the boss has three phases, and the bullet-hell patterns that were optional in earlier chapters become the main event.
Why Chapter 3 Is the Wall
- Enemy bullet density doubles. Living Books and Mirror Constructs fill the screen with projectiles. Chapter 3 demands you read the whole screen at once.
- The boss has three distinct phases. It changes behavior at roughly 66% and 33% HP — each phase has different attack patterns you need to learn separately.
- Your build hasn't come online yet. You don't yet have the artifact and tablet synergies that make later chapters manageable.
The Floor Layout
| Floor | Theme | Key Threat |
|---|---|---|
| :--: | ------ | ------ |
| 1 | Library entrance | Living Books (ranged magic), Animated Shelves (melee) |
| 2 | Reading halls | Mirror Constructs (reflect projectiles), Mage Apparitions (AoE) |
| 3 | Restricted section | Elite: Grand Librarian — the first real bullet-hell test |
| 4 | Mirror gallery | Elite: Reflected Self — copies your weapon type; harder for ranged builds |
The Chapter 3 Boss: Three Phases
- Phase 1 (~100%-66% HP): Summoner phase. The boss summons Living Books and Mirror Constructs while firing slow, aimed projectiles. Kill adds immediately — the combined projectile volume chips you down. Save your dash for the aimed projectile. Do not use potions in Phase 1 — if you're taking damage, you're not clearing adds fast enough.
- Phase 2 (~66%-33% HP): Bullet hell. The boss stops summoning and fills the room with patterned waves — concentric rings, spirals, and cross-patterns. Hold block and walk through gaps instead of dashing through dense patterns. Find the safe zones: ring patterns have gaps, spirals let you walk with the rotation. A Fortitude potion at the start of this phase turns chip damage into negligible damage. If you have summons (Undead Inferno build, summon tablets), let them deal damage while you focus on survival.
- Phase 3 (~33%-0% HP): Desperation. Combines adds and bullet patterns with faster projectiles. Use your Greater Healing Potion now, burn the boss with your offensive items, and ignore adds unless they're directly in your way. Dash through the boss, not away from it — many patterns originate from its position, so being behind it is safer than being at range.
Best Builds for Chapter 3
| Build | Why It Works |
|---|---|
| ------ | ------ |
| Sword & Shield + Frost tablets | Built-in block handles bullet hell; slow makes patterns easier to dodge |
| Undead Inferno (Ignition + Soul-Weaver) | Summons tank adds while you focus on pattern dodging; burn ticks during defensive windows |
| Guardian (Fortitude + Vanguard tablets) | Maximum survivability — the best way to learn boss patterns while staying alive |
Pre-Boss Checklist
- [ ] 2+ Healing Potions (at least 1 Greater)
- [ ] 1 Fortitude Potion for Phase 2
- [ ] A weapon upgraded at the Anvil if one is available
- [ ] 3+ artifacts that match your build theme (sell off-theme items at the pre-boss shop)
- [ ] At least 1 Epic tablet touching 2+ artifacts (if you're still on Commons, shop reroll before the boss)
- [ ] HP above 80% before entering the boss door
Chapter 4: The Hardest Chapter in the Climb
Community consensus rates Chapter 4's boss as the most punishing fight in the main climb — overlapping patterns and long phases. The good news: your build has come online by now, and the pattern-reading skills you learned in Chapter 3 carry you through.
- Positioning is the skill this chapter tests. Where you stand between volleys decides whether you can dodge the next one.
- Expect a long fight — bring healing to outlast the phases.
- The difficulty curve softens after Chapter 3 — Chapter 4 is harder in absolute terms, but your build carries more of the load.
Chapter 5: The Pre-Endgame Gate
A very hard chapter that gates Chapter 6. By now you should have a coherent artifact/tablet build and a preferred weapon mastered.
- Overgear before pushing further — farm earlier chapters for sapphires and artifacts if this chapter slows you down (see the Farming Guide).
- Co-op note: role assignment (frontline, ranged DPS, revive guard) matters more here than anywhere before it.
Chapter 6: The Finale
The 1.0 ending content. Chapter 6 contains:
| Segment | Content |
|---|---|
| --------- | --------- |
| Mid-chapter | 1 mini-boss — a shorter, gimmick-focused fight |
| Chapter boss | The Pillar Summoner — an endgame summoner fight; destroy the summoned pillars to keep it manageable |
| Final boss | The ending fight — beat it for the ending and credits |
Full Run Strategy
For a successful full run (Chapters 1-6):
| Chapter | Goal |
|---|---|
| --- | --- |
| 1 | Learn the block key, collect early artifacts, find secret rooms |
| 2 | Commit to an element/theme; build direction locked |
| 3 | Clear the wall — 3-phase boss with a coherent artifact setup |
| 4 | Survival-focused play; the hardest boss in the climb |
| 5 | Overgear, then push through the gate |
| 6 | All-in — every potion, every consumable, everything you've saved |
