Best Builds — Weapon & Artifact Synergies for Every Playstyle
Sephiria's build system layers four systems: your weapon's upgrade path, the artifacts and tablets in your grid inventory, permanent talents, and run-unlocked miracle abilities. With ~300 artifacts and 200+ weapon upgrades, the combinations are nearly endless — but the most effective builds follow a simple principle: pick a damage type and stack it.
Every build needs:
- Primary damage source — Your weapon upgrade path
- Artifact + tablet synergy — A coherent element/stat theme in your grid
- Inscription/talent support — Permanent bonuses that fill gaps
- A utility option — Healing, dodging, or defensive items to survive
The Six Weapon Styles
| Weapon | Playstyle | Risk | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| -------- | ----------- | ------ | ---------- |
| Sword & Shield | Block, counter, outlast — balanced melee | Low | New players, survivability |
| Greatsword | Slow, heavy hits with big payoff and stagger | Medium-High | Big single hits and stagger pressure |
| Dagger | Fast, combo-heavy close combat — burst and crits | High | Players who want aggressive, high-skill play |
| Katana | Combo flow and counterplay — mid melee | Medium | Rhythm-based combat |
| Crossbow | Ranged shots, kiting, sustained DPS | Low-Medium | Newer players, boss safety |
| Staff | Ranged casting, elemental damage, AoE | Medium | Safe distance play, AoE coverage |
Core Build Archetypes
| Archetype | Weapon | How It Plays | Key Systems |
|---|---|---|---|
| ----------- | -------- | -------------- | ------------- |
| Tanky Shield | Sword & Shield + defensive artifacts | Block, counter, outlast — the survivable close-range build | Defense-focused artifacts, tablet priorities on mitigation, talents for sustain |
| Meteor Mage | Staff | Big AoE casts on groups; burst windows | Magic artifacts, tablet stacking on spell power, cooldown talents for miracles |
| Glass Cannon Melee | Dagger or Katana | Maximum DPS, zero margin for error | Damage artifacts, crit/attack-speed tablets |
| Stagger Heavy | Greatsword | Big hits and stagger chains shut down bosses | Stagger-boosting artifacts, heavy-hitting tablets |
| Safe Ranged | Crossbow | Kite everything from range, rarely touched | Ranged damage artifacts, utility tablets |
| Summoner | Any + summon tablets | Summoned allies tank and deal damage while you control the fight | Summon-strength artifacts, tablet priorities on summon count/duration |
| Elemental Stacker | Staff or any + element tablets | Stack status effects that multiply each other | Status-proc artifacts, elemental tablets |
How to Build a Run
- Pick an archetype that matches how you want to play (tanky, burst, safe, support)
- Match it to a weapon — each archetype maps to 1-2 weapons above
- Layer systems in order: weapon upgrade path → artifact/tablet setup → talents → miracles
- Let your tablets decide your element — artifact and tablet support decide more than the weapon itself. If you find fire tablets early, lean into a fire build even if you planned ice
- In co-op, cover two archetypes — a tanky frontliner plus a ranged DPS handles every boss
The Four Build Layers

| Artifacts + Tablets | Grid inventory — artifacts are empowered by tablets slotted around them | Artifacts Guide and Tablets Guide |
| Talents | Permanent trees (Combat / Resilience / Utility) unlocked over runs | Talents Guide |
| Miracle abilities | Run-unlocked special abilities that change how a build executes | Talents Guide |

Co-op Build Synergies
In 4-player co-op, builds that complement each other outperform four individual DPS builds.
| Role | Recommended Weapon | Job |
|---|---|---|
| --- | --- | --- |
| Tank/Frontline | Sword & Shield (or Greatsword) | Absorb damage, hold the boss's attention |
| Ranged DPS | Crossbow (or Staff) | Sustained damage, status effects |
| AoE Burst | Staff | Room clear, boss burst windows |
| Support | Any + utility artifacts | Defense support, add control |
