Co-op in Sephiria

Sephiria supports 1-4 player online co-op. In co-op, enemy health and damage scale with player count — and so do rewards. Coordination separates a successful team from a wipe.

How Co-op Scaling Works

  • Enemy health and damage scale with player count — a 4-player lobby faces a significantly tougher tower than solo
  • Solo is fully balanced and viable — co-op is an option, not a requirement
  • Rewards scale with the party, so there's no penalty for playing together

Optimal Team Composition

A well-balanced 4-player team covers all situations. The roles below are the community-consistent setup:

RoleWeaponResponsibility
---------
FrontlineSword & Shield (or Greatsword)Hold the line, block attacks aimed at the team, revive safely
Ranged DPSCrossbowSustained single-target damage, pick off elites from range
AoE / ControlStaffRoom clear, element coverage, layered damage
Flex / SupportAny — matches team needsAdd control, utility artifacts, revive guard
PairSynergy
------
Sword & Shield + StaffFrontline holds aggro while the Staff AoEs freely
Crossbow + Sword & ShieldSafe ranged damage plus a wall that never dies

3-Player Note

A frontline + ranged DPS + AoE composition covers every boss encounter — the three core roles are more important than having all four filled.

The Revive System

When a teammate's HP hits zero, they enter a downed state:

  • A revive prompt appears above their body
  • Reviving is a short interaction — you must hold it uninterrupted
  • Enemies can hit you during revive — the team must clear space
  • If fully killed (HP depletes during the downed state), they are eliminated for the current room

Revive Priority

  1. Frontline revives DPS — the tank has the HP to absorb hits during the revive window
  2. Support covers the reviver — keep the area clear while the revive happens
  3. Assign a revive guard in boss fights — one player's job is covering the downed teammate

Communication is Key

Pre-Run Planning

Before entering the tower, decide:

  1. Who covers which role — frontline, ranged DPS, AoE, revive guard
  2. Boss fight roles — who holds the boss, who clears adds, who guards revives
  3. Loot distribution — who gets priority on which artifacts

In-Run Callouts

Essential callouts in co-op:

  • "Down!" — You're downed, need a revive
  • "Secret room!" — Hidden room found
  • "Elite!" — Strong enemy spotted
  • "Shop!" — Vendor found, check gold
  • "Boss room!" — Final room, prepare

Co-op Boss Strategies

The four co-op boss roles that apply to every fight:

RoleJob
-----------
FrontlineTank the boss's melee patterns — Greatsword stagger chains
Ranged DPSCrossbow/Staff — keep damage up through barrages
Revive guardOne player covers the revive window when a teammate goes down
Add controlClear summoned minions (Pillar Summoner fights) so the boss stays focusable
The classic bossing pair: Greatsword + Sword & Shield. One player staggers the boss, the other eats its counterattacks.

Co-op Tips That Actually Matter

  • Stick together. Splitting up makes packs much harder to deal with — the scaling doesn't care about your positioning.
  • The host's game state determines shop inventory — coordinate purchases so the host doesn't buy out the best items before teammates can see them.
  • Potions are per-player — you can't trade them, but you can ping their locations.
  • Healing effects that cover the area help everyone — position near your lowest-HP teammate.
  • If you're having connection issues, see the Multiplayer Connection Fix Guide.
