Frequently Asked Questions — 15 Common Questions About Sephiria
15 essential FAQs about Sephiria covering gameplay mechanics, co-op, solo play, artifacts, inscriptions, launch details, and more. Quick answers for common player questions.
1. What is Sephiria?
Sephiria is a pixel-art action roguelite developed by TEAM HORAY — the studio behind Dungreed. You play a rabbit warrior climbing the Tower of Sephiria, fighting through procedurally-arranged rooms across 6 chapters with 6 weapons and ~300 artifacts. It supports 1–4 player online co-op and carries a Very Positive Steam rating (very positive overall).
2. When is the 1.0 full release?
The full 1.0 launched July 31, 2026. Early Access ran April 2025 → July 2026 — 484 days and 58 updates (see the Full Release Guide).
3. Is it single-player or multiplayer?
Both. You can play solo or in online co-op with up to 4 players. The game scales enemy health and damage based on player count — solo play is fully balanced and viable.4. How many weapons are there?
There are 6 weapons: Sword & Shield, Greatsword, Dagger, Katana, Crossbow, and Staff. Each weapon branch has its own upgrade tree; 1.0 expanded them to 200+ weapon upgrades total.
5. What are artifacts?
Artifacts are passive items found during runs that modify your stats and abilities. There are ~300 artifacts at 1.0, arranged in your inventory grid and empowered by tablets. They reset each run — permanent progression lives in Inscriptions, Talents, and artifact unlocks.
6. What is the Inscription system?
Inscriptions are permanent socketable bonuses that persist between runs. Unlike artifacts (which reset each run), inscriptions are permanently unlocked and provide ongoing character progression. Destiny Inscriptions are purchased with sapphires earned from runs.
7. How long does a full run take?
A full run through all 6 chapters takes roughly an hour or more, depending on player skill, exploration thoroughness, and whether you attempt optional encounters.
8. Is there character progression between runs?
Yes. Even when you die, you keep:- Unlocked Inscriptions (permanent)
- Talent points (Combat / Resilience / Utility trees)
- Weapon Mastery levels (per weapon)
- Artifact unlocks (added to future run pools)
- Achievements and unlocks
9. Which weapon should I start with?
Sword & Shield is the most beginner-friendly weapon — balanced stats, forgiving combos, and a reliable block. Crossbow is also a strong start for its safe range. See the Weapons Guide for the full breakdown.10. How does co-op revive work?
When a teammate's HP reaches zero, they enter a downed state. A short revive interaction brings them back. During revival, the reviver is vulnerable to attacks. If fully killed while downed, they are eliminated for the current room.
11. Does the game have local or couch co-op?
No. Sephiria supports online co-op only. There is no split-screen or local multiplayer.12. Is there crossplay?
Crossplay has not been confirmed on the official Steam page as of the 1.0 launch. Check the Steam store page for the latest information.
