What Are Talents?
The Talent system is one of Sephiria's permanent progression layers. You earn talent points through play and spend them in three permanent talent trees:
| Tree | Focus |
|---|---|
| --- | --- |
| Combat | Damage — attack power, crit, element damage |
| Resilience | Survival — max HP, healing, defensive effects |
| Utility | Resources and runs — gold, exploration, potions |
Like Inscriptions, talents carry over between runs forever — every point is a permanent account-wide upgrade.
How Talent Points Work
- Points are earned through normal play — leveling up during climbs and completing milestones and achievements.
- Points are permanent and account-wide — they never reset between runs.
- The Talent tree unlocks through progression; the Home Repair Destiny Inscription is the gateway that unlocks it (see the Farming Guide).
How to Spend Talent Points
There's no single "best" build — the right spend depends on your goals. These are the community-consistent directions:
Beginner (first points)
Survival first. Points in the Resilience tree (max HP, healing) reduce the number of runs you lose while you're learning — and survival points keep paying off forever.Damage-Focused (for speed and bossing)
Combat tree. If you want faster clears, damage points compound with your weapon and artifact build. Best paired with a burst weapon like Greatsword or Crossbow.Hard Mode Survivor
Resilience-heavy. Hard Mode's 6 modifiers punish mistakes — Tension (no potions in boss fights) makes defensive talents the difference between a clear and a wipe. See the Hard Mode Guide.Farming / Exploration
Utility tree. Gold, potion, and exploration bonuses make farming runs more efficient — pair with the Farming Guide's routes.Co-op Support
Balanced with survival lean. In co-op, your revive system means the team's survival depends on every player — resilience points help the whole squad.Talents vs Inscriptions — What's the Difference?
| Aspect | Talents | Inscriptions |
|---|---|---|
| --- | --- | --- |
| What do they do? | Three stat/effect trees | Socketable permanent bonuses |
| How do you get points? | Earned through play (levels, milestones) | Purchased with sapphires |
| When to prioritize | Early game — reliable power | Mid-to-late — when sapphires flow |
Both are permanent — the common advice is talents for baseline power, inscriptions for specialization.
