Tablets Guide — Inventory Grid Power & Best Tablet Combos
Complete Sephiria tablets guide: how the ~70 tablets work in your inventory grid, the best element directions (fire, ice, storm, corrosion), placement strategy, and how to build around tablets for Chapter 6 and Hard Mode.
Tablets Guide — Inventory Grid Power & Best Tablet Combos
Tablets are what make Sephiria's build system genuinely different from other roguelites: tablets multiply the power of the artifacts around them — and where you place them in your inventory grid is a spatial puzzle that can make or break a run. There are ~70 tablets at 1.0.
This guide covers how tablets work, the element directions that define builds, and the placement strategy that turns a decent build into a Chapter 6 contender.
How Tablets Work
Tablets are grid-enhancement items that occupy slots in your inventory. Each tablet affects the adjacent artifacts (touching it in the grid) in a specific way:
| Tablet Effect | What It Does |
|---|---|
| --- | --- |
| Stat boost | Boosts a stat for every artifact it touches |
| Element enhancement | Adds or amplifies element damage on adjacent artifacts |
| Synergy multiplier | Multiplies effects when touching artifacts of the same element |
The Grid Puzzle
Your inventory is a grid of slots. Artifacts and tablets each take one slot. The goal is to:
- Group same-element artifacts together so tablets buff multiple targets at once
- Position tablets at intersections — a tablet touching 3-4 artifacts does 3-4× more work than one touching just 1
- Match element directions — commit to one element and let your tablets amplify it
Rarity Tiers
Tablets come in rarity tiers, from Common up to Legendary. Higher-rarity tablets grant stronger bonuses per adjacent artifact — a Legendary tablet touching several matching artifacts can define a whole run.
The Element Directions
The community-consistent tablet meta organizes builds by element. Each direction plays differently:
Fire — Sustained Pressure
Fire builds apply burn and damage over time, wearing enemies down while you stay safe. Strong room clear; pairs well with weapons that hit often or wide.
Ice — Control
Ice builds slow and freeze enemies, locking down threats before they reach you. Excellent control for boss fights where you need breathing room.
Storm — Area Burst
Storm builds focus on chain and area lightning — damage that jumps between enemies. Fast room clear; weaker single-target unless the tablets align.
Corrosion — Wearing Down
Corrosion builds stack weakening damage over time on tough enemies. Great against elites and bosses; slower in trash rooms.
The core rule: tablets decide your element direction — commit to one element and build your artifact grid around it. The Builds Guide has full builds for each direction.Placement Strategy
The Cross Pattern
Place your best tablet in the center of a 3×3 area, with 4 artifacts touching it (top, bottom, left, right). This gives 4× the tablet's bonus from one item.
The Element Cluster
For element-synergy tablets, place same-element artifacts adjacent to the tablet so every artifact gets the bonus and the tablet touches multiple targets.
When to Replace Tablets
- Common tablets are early-game filler — replace them with higher rarities when they drop
- Off-theme tablets that don't match your element — swap for ones that do
- Tablets touching only 1 artifact — either reposition or replace
Tablet FAQ
Q: How many tablets are there?~70 tablets at 1.0, in rarity tiers from Common to Legendary.
Q: Do tablets stack?Yes — multiple tablets can empower the same artifacts, and the synergies between tablets are where the real power is.
Q: Should I always fill every slot? No. A tablet touching 3 good artifacts is worth more than 2 tablets each touching 1 mediocre one. Quality of adjacency beats raw count.
Q: Which element should I commit to?Whichever fits your weapon and playstyle — fire for pressure, ice for control, storm for speed, corrosion for bosses. The Staff Build Guide and Builds Guide break down each direction.
