Mystic Pot Guide — Artifact Re-Rolling & Rarity Upgrades

The Mystic Pot is the artifact-conversion station. It converts artifacts by rarity:

  • 1 artifact trades for 1 artifact of the same rarity (a re-roll)
  • 2 artifacts trade for 1 artifact of the next rarity up (a rarity upgrade)

Getting this system right is among the fastest power growth in the endgame — the 2-for-1 rarity upgrade turns a mid-tier artifact pool into a high-tier one.

This guide covers exactly how the system works, what artifacts are worth trading, and the priority order that gets you the most power per trip to the Pot.

What Artifacts Are (Quick Primer)

Artifacts are the passive items found during runs — there are ~300 at 1.0, arranged in your inventory grid and empowered by tablets. They reset each run; permanent progression lives in Inscriptions, Talents, and artifact unlocks (see the Artifacts Guide).

Two things to know before touching the Mystic Pot:

  1. Artifacts are build-defining. They are major passives, not stat bumps — the right artifact changes how a whole build plays.
  2. Artifacts and tablets decide more than the weapon itself. In the current meta, artifact/tablet support often outweighs the weapon choice — so curating your artifact pool is a real investment, not busywork.

How the Mystic Pot Works

TradeInputOutputUse Case
--------------------------------
Re-roll (same rarity)1 artifact1 artifact of the same raritySwap a bad roll for a different one
Rarity upgrade2 artifacts1 artifact of the next rarity upThe efficient endgame path

That's the whole mechanic: the Pot converts artifacts by rarity. Two key consequences:

  • Same-rarity re-rolls are a small tax. You spend one artifact to get a different one of equal value — fine when you have duplicates or junk you will never use.
  • Rarity-up trades are where the power is. Two artifacts of one rarity become one of the next tier. Do this consistently and your artifact pool moves up a tier at a time instead of waiting on drops.

What to Feed the Pot — Priority Order

Use this priority order:

PriorityActionWhy
-----------------------
1Upgrade artifacts that fit your main weapon's elementIce/storm and fire/corrosion directions define builds — match the Pot's output to the element you actually play
2Upgrade artifacts for your second-most-played weaponCo-op and Hard Mode sometimes demand a different role — a second strong set covers you
3Same-rarity re-roll only for outright junkIf an artifact is useless for every weapon you play, a re-roll costs nothing you value
4Never feed artifacts you actively equipThe Pot consumes its inputs — keep your equipped build intact and feed duplicates and niche rolls only
Before you trade, answer one question: does the artifact at the next rarity fit a build I actually play? If it only powers a weapon you never touch, you're converting two artifacts into one you'll never equip.

When the Mystic Pot Fits the Endgame Loop

The progression ladder looks like this (see the Endgame Guide):

  1. Climb to the Chapter 6 ending — unlocks the full loop
  2. Reroll artifacts at the Mystic Pot — 2-for-1 rarity upgrades are the fastest pool growth
  3. Clear Hard Mode to level 60 — the 6 modifiers reward a curated artifact pool
  4. Refine your tablet rotation — ~70 tablets exist; element synergy with your artifacts decides more than the weapon (see the Tablets Guide)

A simple loop: collect artifacts on Normal climbs → feed duplicates and niche rolls to the Pot → take the upgraded pool into Hard Mode runs → re-roll again at the next opportunity.

The Mystic Pot is one piece of the inventory/endgame systems:

  • Side Bag — a second inventory bag that lets you carry spare items outside the main inventory. If you find yourself full of artifacts you're saving for the Pot, this is where they live.
  • Tablets — the other item class (~70 at 1.0). Tablets empower adjacent artifacts in the grid; element synergy is what your upgraded artifacts amplify.
  • Inscriptions — the permanent progression layer that makes future runs stronger (see the Inscriptions Guide).

FAQ

Q: What does the Mystic Pot do?

It converts artifacts by rarity: 1 artifact trades for 1 of the same rarity (re-roll), or 2 artifacts for 1 of the next rarity up (upgrade).

Q: What's the fastest way to upgrade my artifact pool?

Feed two artifacts of the same rarity to the Pot for one of the next rarity up. The 2-for-1 rarity upgrade is the efficient path — same-rarity re-rolls are secondary.

Q: Should I ever re-roll instead of upgrading?

Only for artifacts that are useless to every build you play. Re-rolling junk is low-risk; upgrading useful artifacts is higher value.

Q: Do artifacts reset between runs?

Yes — artifacts are per-run items. Permanent progression lives in Inscriptions, Talents, and artifact unlocks (see the Artifacts Guide).

Q: Where do I get more artifacts to feed the Pot?

Artifacts are found during normal play — in rooms, from bosses, and in secret rooms. See the Artifacts Guide for details.
