Sephiria Price Increase Went Live — It's $17.99 Now (Was It Worth Buying Early?)
TEAM HORAY raised Sephiria from $14.99 to $17.99 on September 14, 2026 at 2:00 PM KST, and the increase landed on schedule: the Steam store page reads $17.99 with no discount, checked September 16, 2026. The regional prices, the bundle routes that still get you the game for $16.19, what owners say it is worth now, and the known issues to weigh.
Sephiria 1.0 / Updated: September 16, 2026
TEAM HORAY posted a Price Update Notice on the Sephiria Steam hub on September 12, 2026, and the increase it described took effect on schedule. Sephiria moved from $14.99 to $17.99, with matching rises in every other region, at 2:00 PM KST on September 14, 2026. We re-read the store page on September 16, 2026: it shows $17.99 with no discount. [Official]
The short answer
- The increase is live. It landed September 14, 2026 at 2:00 PM KST — 05:00 UTC on September 14, which was 10:00 PM PDT on September 13 and 1:00 AM EDT on September 14 in North America. [Editorial, converted from the official time]
- US price: $14.99 → $17.99 — a $3.00 rise, roughly +20%, confirmed on the store page on September 16, 2026. [Official]
- This was signposted. TEAM HORAY announced on July 29, 2026 that once the launch discount ended and Steam's one-month price-change cooldown passed, the price would go up. [Official]
- Bundles are the one remaining discount route. Sephiria is in three bundles, each at -10%, which prices the game at $16.19 rather than $17.99 if you buy through one. [Official, store page bundle data]
- There is a free demo, so you can test the opening stretch before committing. [Official]
- No season pass, expansion or DLC is listed as of September 16, 2026 — features are single-player, online co-op, Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud, so $17.99 is the whole cost. [Official]
What exactly changes, and by how much
| Region | Before September 14, 2026 | Now (live since September 14, 2026) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| US Dollar | $14.99 | $17.99 | +$3.00 (+20.0%) |
| Euro | €14.79 | €18.25 | +€3.46 (+23.4%) |
| Chinese Yuan | ¥58 | ¥68 | +¥10 (+17.2%) |
| Japanese Yen | ¥1,700 | ¥1,980 | +¥280 (+16.5%) |
| Korean Won | ₩16,500 | ₩19,000 | +₩2,500 (+15.2%) |
Prices and the effective date are from the official notice; the change column is our arithmetic on those figures. The US figure is confirmed directly: the store page's game_purchase_price reads $17.99 with data-discount 0 as of September 16, 2026. [Official / Editorial]
The notice describes these as "some examples" of the new regional pricing, so other currencies have moved too — your region's store page is the authoritative number at the moment you buy. [Official]
Why the price went up at all
The July 29, 2026 "Launch Time Details" announcement — published a day before the 1.0 release — said plainly that after the launch discount ended and Steam's one-month price-change cooldown had passed, the price would be increased. [Official]
So September 14, 2026 was the last step of a plan about six weeks old: launch discount → cooldown → permanent rise. The practical point is that $14.99 was always a launch-window price, not the game's steady-state price. [Editorial]
What you are actually buying at $17.99
The official store description for app 2436940 lists the contents:
- 6 weapons, each with over 50 unique upgrades — permanent meta-progression, not per-run picks
- 60+ distinct enemies and 10+ bosses across 6 chapters
- A grid inventory system built on Artifacts and Tablets — the arranging puzzle is the game's signature, not a side menu
- Online co-op for up to 4 players, with item trading and revives
- Single-player, Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud; Windows and macOS builds; a 2 GB install
- Released July 31, 2026, by TEAM HORAY, the studio behind Dungreed
All from the store page, read September 16, 2026. [Official]
The one way to still pay less than $17.99
The store page currently shows no discount on the standalone game — data-discount 0, full price $17.99, checked September 16, 2026. The three bundles that include Sephiria are the exception:
| Bundle | Contents | Price | Sephiria's effective share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heroes of Hammerwatch II x Sephiria | Heroes of Hammerwatch II + Sephiria | $34.18 (-10%) | $16.19 |
| Dungreed + Sephiria | Dungreed + Sephiria | $25.18 (-10%) | $16.19 |
| Ascend to ZERO x Sephiria | Sephiria + Ascend to ZERO | $26.98 (-10%) | $16.19 |
Bundle names, contents and prices are read from the store page on September 16, 2026. The $16.19 figure comes from the store page's own package data for app 2436940 (m_nFinalPriceWithBundleDiscount 1619 on package 876926) — it is Steam's bundle arithmetic, not ours, and it is what you pay for Sephiria's share if you buy a bundle rather than the game alone. [Official, store page bundle data]
That matters for the "is it worth it" question: if you were going to buy Dungreed or Heroes of Hammerwatch II anyway, the increase is largely cancelled out. If you were not, the bundle is not a saving — it is $25+ instead of $17.99. The Dungreed bundle is the natural one to consider, since Dungreed is TEAM HORAY's own earlier roguelite and the closest thing to a like-for-like sample of the studio's design. [Editorial]
Cost per hour is the fair way to read a price rise, and Sephiria is awkward to attack on that measure. Owner playtimes in public reviews run from under 20 hours to 230 hours, and the permanent progression layers (Talents, Inscriptions, weapon mastery, Hard Mode to level 60) are built for replay rather than a single clear. See the Game Length guide for pacing. [Community / Editorial]
What the people who already own it say it is worth
Public Steam reviews of Sephiria, read September 13–16, 2026:
- "i finished it in about 30 hours, so worth about $10 imo." — September 11, 2026, 28.9 hours played [Community]
- "Sephirothia is great, well worth the money" — September 10, 2026, 18.4 hours played [Community]
- "Good variety, good combat, good depth, but not over the top. Very good for the price point" — September 9, 2026, 29.0 hours played [Community]
- "It's worth every penny at full price and I'd highly recommend grabbing this game" — July 21, 2026, 229.8 hours played, 17 helpful votes [Community]
- "Please buy the game. The amount of content, the amount of care and love, the attention to details, everything is perfect." — August 4, 2026, 126.2 hours played, 79 helpful votes [Community]
Read those honestly rather than as a chorus: one anchors the value at $10, below both the old and the new price. The pattern is that value tracks playtime — reviewers past 100 hours describe a permanent library game, while those who stopped at 30 hours priced it as a 30-hour experience. If you intend one clear and no more, $17.99 is a fairer fight than $14.99 was. [Editorial]
For scale, the store page displayed 97% positive across 2,742 English reviews and 95% across the 2,452 reviews left in the previous 30 days on September 16, 2026. Note the language scoping: those are the store page's English-language counts, and the same page in other languages shows a different pool. The all-language aggregate sits lower — the appreviews endpoint returns Very Positive for the whole pool (11,703 of 12,395 = 94.4%, read September 16, 2026). Quote one or the other with its scope, never as a bare "the Steam rating is X". [Community, store page figures]
What to weigh before you pay more
None of these are deal-breakers for everyone, but all are documented:
- Long-distance co-op is the weakest part of the package. Attacks, blocks and enemy hitboxes are server-authoritative, and a heavily-upvoted negative review (August 11, 2026, 99 helpful votes) describes a 2–3 second lag spike ending an hour-long run; reviews from August 13 and September 6, 2026 say the same. Cross-region play is where it hurts most. Our co-op freeze & disconnect recovery and multiplayer connection fixes cover the workarounds. [Community]
- There is a history of losing progress. A September 11, 2026 review reads "deleted all my data due to an error with my save file", and an August 11, 2026 review reports progression loss on crash. Back up before a long run — see the save file guide. [Community / Official]
- A bug is still open as of 1.0.33. The developers' September 11, 2026 update opens with a Known Issues note: enemies moving outside of walls, suspected to come from 1.0.31's collision changes, not yet reproduced in-house, with the team asking players for video. Unresolved as of September 16, 2026 — no patch has shipped since 1.0.33, so the price increase did not arrive with a fix. [Official]
- Late runs get visually loud. An August 23, 2026 review at 40.3 hours describes chakram, pet and AoE builds turning the screen into a cluster that is hard to read. [Community]
- The difficulty curve can invert. Reviewers argue the game gets easier once a strong build comes together (September 9 and September 1, 2026), and that a costume pick commits you to a stat package for a whole run (August 30, 2026). [Community]
Was it worth buying before the deadline? (retrospective)
The deadline has passed, so this section is now a retrospective rather than advice — here is how the call looks with the increase live and the store page at $17.99.
Buying early was the right call for anyone who already knew they wanted it, and it is the one decision that is now settled: $3.00 saved in the US, comparable elsewhere, and no discount on the standalone game since. Waiting cost you nothing else — nothing in the game changed on September 14. The build shipping today is the same one that shipped before the deadline; the most recent patch (1.0.33, September 11, 2026) predates the increase by three days. [Editorial / Official] The reasons to hesitate are unchanged. Cross-region co-op is still the loudest complaint in the review pool, and a price rise does not touch it; one-playthrough buyers still face $17.99 for roughly a 30-hour experience. Play the free demo before deciding. [Editorial / Community] If you are still deciding: the bundles above are the only discount on the table, at $16.19 for Sephiria's share. Whether the game returns to $14.99 or lower in a future Steam sale is still [Unconfirmed] — no sale schedule has been published, and the only discount we can verify is the launch discount announced July 29, 2026. Treating the current price as the floor remains the conservative read. [Editorial]FAQ
When exactly did the price increase happen?September 14, 2026 at 2:00 PM KST — 05:00 UTC on September 14, or the evening of September 13 in the Americas. It took effect on schedule: the store page reads $17.99 with no discount as of September 16, 2026. [Official]
How much is Sephiria going up?$14.99 to $17.99 in the US, about +20%. The euro rises €14.79 to €18.25, yuan ¥58 to ¥68, yen ¥1,700 to ¥1,980, and won ₩16,500 to ₩19,000. [Official]
Was this announced in advance?Yes. The July 29, 2026 Launch Time Details announcement said the price would rise once the launch discount ended and Steam's one-month price-change cooldown passed. [Official]
Is Sephiria worth $17.99?Owners who have played it longest say yes without qualification; owners who finished one 30-hour run tend to price it nearer $10–$15. If you expect to replay it the new price is easy to justify; if you expect one clear, it is closer to the line. [Community / Editorial]
Is there DLC or a season pass on top?None listed as of September 16, 2026 — but the game is in three -10% bundles (Heroes of Hammerwatch II, Dungreed, Ascend to ZERO), which is the only way to currently pay under $17.99. And yes — a free demo is available from the store page, so you can try it before you pay anything. [Official]
Did anything else change when the price went up?No. The most recent update is 1.0.33 on September 11, 2026, three days before the increase, and no patch has shipped since. The September 14 move was commercial only. [Official]
